Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology

This Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology equips students with the skills and knowledge required to service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components in vehicles in the automotive electrical service and repair industry.

This qualification level is intended to prepare new employees or recognises and develops existing workers who service, diagnose and repair vehicle electrical and electronic systems and components.

This qualification is particularly applicable to school-based studies as an entry-level pathway to employment

Employment outcomes related to this qualification includes:

  • Automotive electrician
  • Automotive electrician technician      
  • Automotive electrician diagnostic technician  

The duration to complete this competency based qualification is up to 12 - 18 months for Fee for Service Students.

This duration is proportionately increased for full-time, part-time and school based apprenticeship arrangements.

New England College flexible training model takes into account the learner’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training and experience. This may lead to a reduction in the time required to complete this apprenticeship.

User Choice - funding is available through the Queensland Government User Choice Program

Eligible apprentices and trainees that meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a student contribution fee of $1.60 per nominal hour. For more information on the number of units funded for this course visit Queensland Training Information Services.

Nominal hours for each unit will be outlined in the agreed training plan, which will be provided to the employer and apprentice or trainee, at the time of induction.
