Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology

This Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology equips students with the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of tasks related to installation, assembly and servicing of electrical components/systems of motor vehicles within the automotive electrical installation, service and repair technology sector.
This qualification level is intended to prepare prospective employees and existing workers who undertake service and repair of vehicle electrical components and systems in the automotive electrical industry.
Work may include performing component/system fabricating, fitting or modifying operations of automotive aftermarket electrical componentry and installation.
Employment outcomes targeted by this qualification include:
- Automotive electrical component installer
- Automotive electrical trainee / assistant
The duration to complete this competency based qualification is up to 12 months for Fee for Service Students.
This duration is proportionately increased for full-time, part-time and school based apprenticeship arrangements.
New England College flexible training model takes into account the learner’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training and experience. This may lead to a reduction in the time required to complete this apprenticeship.

Certificate 3 Guarantee - Funded by the Queensland Government
Dependent on your concessional status, under the Certificate 3 Guarantee, you are required to contribute to the costs of your training through a co-contribution fee. New England College charges the following co-contribution fees for the courses we offer under the Certificate 3 Guarantee:
Concessional student co-contribution fee - $160 Non-concessional student co-contribution fee- $240
Once you have completed a Certificate III level vocational qualification under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program you will no longer be eligible for any additional government subsidised training.
Fee free for year 12 graduates
Year 12 graduates can access fee-free training in high priority areas. If they commence training with an approved training provider such as New England College within a year of leaving school.
Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS)
User Choice - funding is available through the Queensland Government User Choice Program
Eligible apprentices and trainees that meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a student contribution fee of $1.60 per nominal hour. For more information on the number of units funded for this course visit Queensland Training Information Services.
Nominal hours for each unit will be outlined in the agreed training plan, which will be provided to the employer and apprentice or trainee, at the time of induction.
